Kangal Dogs

LIVESTOCK GUARDIANS

WELCOME TO THE KANGAL DOG CLUB OF AMERICA

WHAT IS A KANGAL DOG?

The Kangal Dog is a native Turkish livestock guardian breed, and in Turkey this historic breed goes by no other name. It is registered in the USA by the United Kennel Club (UKC), a respected registry for over 100 years, whose focus is on the "Total Dog."

The Kangal Dog Club of America (KDCA) is the National UKC Breed Club for the Kangal Dog.

        WARNING: Fraudulent Pedigrees

We are still seeing examples of fraudulent pedigrees on dogs being imported from Eastern Europe. These pedigrees lie about the names of dogs, owners/breeders of dogs, have inaccurate registration numbers, and bear unauthorized copies of KIFand FCI seals. These dogs are being imported as Kangals, Anatolian Shepherd Dogs, Turkish Shepherds, and others.

Please consult with our Single Registration Committee to help you verify the authenticity of any pedigrees BEFORE you import any dogs purporting to have KIF or FCI pedigrees as Kangal Dogs.

ABOUT THE KDCA

Kangal Dogs are a traditional and very old livestock guardian breed from Turkey. Noble in character and impressive in conformation, we believe Kangal Dogs combine the very best traits in a working livestock guardian, as well as a partner and companion dog.

Whether you are looking for a LGD or a very special family companion and protector, a carefully bred, authentic Kangal Dog may be the perfect choice. Check out our page Is a Kangal Dog Right For Me?

We hold a friendly, educational and fun National Specialty Show - where learning and meeting other owners is our main focus. You can see photos of our Specialty in the Gallery

We also host a members-only KDCA Facebook group, publish an informative newsletter, and an annual Kangal Dog calendar. Check out our KDCA Shop for more unique Kangal products.
